The Bettie Bates Memorial Fund, established by family in memory of Bettie Bates, a local resident
who died from colon cancer.  Knowing about early detection and screening would have saved her
life. Colon cancer is one of the most preventable of all cancers.  We are a non-profit organization
whose mission is to focus on pubic awareness of colon cancer and the vital importance of early
detection and screenings. Because this is an all-volunteer group, every penny the event nets goes
directly toward colon cancer programs locally and nationally.  In its first year alone, "Chip-in to Fight
Colon Cancer" raised $10,000 helping to establish the
Bettie Bates Patient Resource Center located
on the first floor of the Foshay Cancer Center at
Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida. This
charity tournament has been created to raise awareness of colorectal cancer. Over the last three
years, we have donated $27,500 and this year our goal is to raise even more.

Bettie Bates Patient Resource Center
is open to the community and offers
cancer patients and their families a wide
selection of educational information. The
Center also provides Internet access and
personal support for those seeking
information via the Internet.
